Rye Country Boarding Kennels (RCBK), has been owned and operated by Stella and Sam DiEdwards since 1973. Stella’s love for animals goes back to her early teens when she worked at Belle Vue Greyhound Stadium in Manchester, England (UK). It is during this time that Stella learned the ins and outs of obedience training, kennel care, and dog handling. Stella emigrated from the United Kingdom to the USA in 1957 and quickly found her way to Rye Country Boarding Kennels. Back then, Stella was employed part-time at RCBK while Sam was a student at the Manhattan School of Music. In 1963, he joined RCBK as a part time employee as well.
Through forward thinking and a genuine concern for the health and well being of pets, together they quickly transformed RCBK into a full service boarding and grooming facility of the highest standards. In 1973, they gained ownership and for the past 50+ years have been providing boarding services at the highest level of care. In 1985, Sam Jr. joined the business full time. It’s based on this combined experience that they know what works to make your pets feel at home.
A lot has changed in the last 50 years, but one thing remains the same; their commitment to your pets. They take the time to interact with your pets, getting to know each of them in order to make sure that they are comfortable and well cared for while visiting us.

What Our Customers Are Saying.
Don’t just take it from us, let our customers do the talking!
“This is the only Kennel I trust. I have a very shy and unsocial dog who is always afraid around strangers. This kennel is a great option for us. She is well treated, and well cared for and you can call from the road at any time to get an update and they will know which dog you are asking about and give you a full update on progress/issues. It can be difficult to leave your dog in a strange place, but this place gives me peace of mind.”
Frequently Asked Questions
What are the drop-off and pick-up times?
What vaccinations are required for boarding?
- All dogs must be vaccinated for Rabies, Canine Distemper and Parvovirus. Bordetella (kennel cough) and Canine Influenza vaccinations are not required but are recommended.

What is the minimum age for boarding a dog or cat?
What personal belongings may I bring for my dog and/or cat?
We recommend that you leave your pets beds at home and bring an old blanket if necessary as they are easier to launder. We will wash bedding if it gets soiled. You may bring along any toys or treats your pet is accustomed to at home.
Should I bring my own food? How many times a day will my dog eat?
Do you administer medications?
Can I board all of my pets together?
Yes! We are equipped to board multiple pets together from the same family (dogs and cats will not board together). Please remember to mention if your pets need to be separated for feeding.
How often is my pet exercised?
At a minimum, your dog is exercised twice daily. Our outdoor exercise runs are covered to protect your dog from wind, rain, snow and overexposure to the sun. Cats have two (2) perches in their pens and exercise at will.
